Town & history

The old town

Bruneck was founded in the 13th century by Prince-Bishop Bruno of Brixen – and still bears his name.

The heart of the town is the Stadtgasse: an unbroken row of town houses with oriel windows, arcades and shops, running between the castle hill and the Rienz river.
